Does the ColorPlus work with Alexa, Google Home, and SmartThings? Yes, all three, directly. No hub, no bridge, no third-party app forwarding. Once you pair the light in the Vita app, it appears natively in Alexa, Google Home, and SmartThings as a single color light with on/off, brightness, and color control.
What voice commands work? The essentials. "Turn on the aquarium light," "set the aquarium light to blue," "dim the aquarium light to 30 percent," and anything else your voice assistant supports for a color-capable smart bulb. Because ColorPlus shows up as a standard smart light, it works with any Alexa or Google routine you already have.
Will my schedule keep running if my Wi-Fi goes out? Yes. Schedules are stored on the light's controller, not in the cloud. Once you set a sunrise and sunset in the app, the light runs that program on its own. A Wi-Fi outage overnight will not leave your fish in the dark or your tank stuck on.
Do the sunrise and sunset actually fade, or is it just timed on/off? Real gradual fading over the times you set. You choose how long the ramp takes and what color the light lands on. Set a slow amber wake-up over 30 minutes if you want, or a quick 10-minute blue moonlight fade at night.
Can I control multiple ColorPlus lights on one tank as a group? Yes. If you run two ColorPlus fixtures over a larger tank, group them in the Vita app and they respond to voice commands and schedule changes as one unit. This is the recommended setup for tanks that need more than one fixture.
Does the ColorPlus need 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi? Yes, 2.4 GHz only. Most home routers broadcast both 2.4 and 5 GHz, and the 2.4 GHz band is always on by default. If you have a mesh system that hides the two bands under one name, you may need to temporarily separate them during setup, then rejoin.
What if I do not want to use Wi-Fi at all? Bluetooth fallback lets you control the light directly from the app when Wi-Fi is unavailable. Voice control and remote access require Wi-Fi, but on/off, color, brightness, and schedule setup work over Bluetooth.
Will the ColorPlus grow plants? It supports low-light freshwater plants like anubias, java fern, and cryptocorynes. It is not designed to be a high-output planted-tank light for carpeting plants or high-light species that need dense PAR. Its real strength is color rendering: making fish, gravel, and decor look their best.
What tank sizes does each ColorPlus fit? The adjustable legs extend up to 12 inches wider than the fixture. The 24-inch fits tanks up to 36 inches, the 36-inch fits up to 48, and the 48-inch fits up to 60.
Is the ColorPlus safe around water? The fixture is splash resistant, built to handle normal aquarium condensation and the occasional water contact during maintenance. It is not rated for submersion.
Does the ColorPlus need its own app? Setup happens in the free Vita app on iOS and Android, which is where you configure schedules and pair with Alexa, Google, or SmartThings. After that, day-to-day control can happen entirely through your voice assistant or your smart home app. You do not need to open the Vita app once it is set up.
What is the ColorPlus made of? The housing is aluminum, which dissipates heat well and keeps the fixture rigid across the full length of the light.
